Bill Helwig Bowl

To raise funds, the Carpenter Art Enamel Foundation is offering for sale, some additional works from its collection by the famed enamelist Bill Helwig. Bill Helwig was known as the ‘cheerleader’ for enamels. His life was lived with enameling at the center. He was very observant working each day with enamel and enameling materials. If some- thing happened he didn’t understand or wasn’t sure about, he would study the situation and con- duct experiments until he fully understood what it was. He coined the phrase “If you can repeat a mistake three times, it becomes a technique.” His work was recognized around the world. Bill taught enameling classes all over the United States, Canada, and Europe. He began working for Woodrow Carpenter in 1978 and continued until his death in 2012.
